Biography

Alice is an Indonesian soprano currently based in Singapore with an active performance career spanning Asia and Europe. She holds a Master of Arts in Classical Singing (Opera) from the University of Pécs, Hungary with guidance from Katalin Károlyi as a Stipendium Hungaricum full scholarship recipient, and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance (Honors with Distinction) from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore one of Southeast Asia's most prestigious schools, with guidance from Alan Bennett, which she completed on full scholarship.

 

Alice's operatic roles include Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) under the direction of Kocsár Balázs, principal music director of the Hungarian State Opera House and also in KMD Dubrovnik (Croatia),  Dido in Dido and Aeneas with The Opera People and Red Dot Baroque (Singapore), Adele in Die Fledermaus directed by Éva Varga, Despina in Così fan Tutte directed by Samuel Tóth, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Dame 2 in Die Zauberflöte. She has also appeared in productions including The Butterfly Lovers with WildRice at Victoria Theatre, Singapore.

Her concert appearances include solo performances in the Bach Cantatas Series with Masaaki Suzuki, the Cantiamo Series, Noon Recitals and Cool Classics at Esplanade Singapore, and Tunjukkan Matahari Terbenam di Timur featuring Indonesian art songs by Ananda Sukarlan. She has performed for the Hungarian Embassy in Singapore under the honorary patronage of H.E. Judit Pach, and was featured in Indonesia's National Christmas Celebration 2024, broadcast nationwide, where she sang at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta before an audience of more than 10,000, including the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

A competition laureate, Alice qualified for the 2024 Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition (Sweden), was a semi-finalist at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition 2022 (Latvia), won 2nd Prize at the 9th International Singing Competition Lav Mirski (2021, Croatia), 2nd Prize in Tembang Puitik Ananda Sukarlan 2021 (2021, Indonesia), 3rd Prize in the 2019 Conservatory Concerto Competition (Singapore), and was a Grand Finalist of the National Singing Competition Catharina W. Leimena (2016, Indonesia).

 

As an educator, Alice teaches at Emerge Arts and Media and serves as an MOE Singapore Instructor, her choirs are Corporation Primary School, Jun Yuan Primary School and Teck Whye Primary School, while accompanying at Marsiling Primary School, Angsana Primary School, and Ai Tong Primary School. She is an active cantor and choir member with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Choir at St. Joseph's Church (Victoria Street) under Corrinne May.

Her training includes masterclasses with Roger Vignoles, Masaaki Suzuki, Caitlin Hulcup, Elisé Chauvin, Gerda Van Zelm and Les Arts Florissants, and participation in the SienAgosto summer music academy in Italy under Michael Chance, working with coaches including Lynne Dawson and Daniel Taylor. Earlier in Indonesia, she studied with Sylvia Wiryadi and Avip Priatna, and performed with Paduan Suara Anak Indonesia (directed by Aida Swenson), Batavia Madrigal Singers, and The Resonanz Children Choir (Devi Fransisca), winning the Grand Prix Award at the 10th Cantemus International Choir Festival in Hungary.

In addition to her performance career, Alice maintains an active teaching practice, with students who have won various competitions in Indonesia and internationally. She directed a student run musical productions including NUANSA 2019: Lukisan Jati and participated in community projects like Pesisir Mengajar and charity concerts for ChildAid Asia Indonesia and Habitat for Humanity. She was also a keynote speaker of Voice for Miri Music Makers, Malaysia. A trained pianist who placed 3rd in the Indonesia Piano Competition (2014), she studied with Angelica Liviana and attended masterclasses with Daniel Herscovitch and Iswargia Renardi Sudarno.
